Turning Down Tucker Max
By Ashley Gork

Tucker Max: The name reeks of contradicting metaphors. To some, Tucker is a college hero, put on this earth to entertain readers and inspire cocky frat boys everywhere. To others, Tucker is simply a spawn of Satan, both repugnant and crude. I simply saw him as a mentor and a friend. That is, until I found out that hes really just an asshole
If you don't know of Tucker Max, crawl out from under that rock and listen up. Tucker has made a name for himself by being an excessive drunk, a raging asshole, and oddly enough, a national best selling author. His last book, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell , has just become a major motion picture and his website, Tuckermax.com, has gained the attention of millions of viewers. As a college graduate from the University of Chicago and Duke Law, Tucker has become a renowned writer, blogger, and producer. His next book, Assholes Finish First, is slated for release in November 2009. Even though many would hate to admit it, the boy is talented.
This is what I saw in Tucker. To me, he was a writer, a proficient one at that. Being an inspiring author, myself, I got a hold of Tucker via email and asked for an unexpected favor. Teach me. Although Tucker's website clearly states, "I usually only answer about 10% of the mail I get," Tucker saw something in my email and wrote back. His reply? "How could I mentor a girl who doesn't understand me enough to know to SEND A FUCKING PICTURE?" Warning sign one. Now, let me make myself clear. I wasn't looking to blow Tucker Max. I didn't want to be known as "Hot Girl #4" in his book either. I really wanted this man to mentor me in the art of edgy writing. I believed in his talent and wanted some professional advice. In retrospect, I realize Tucker didn't get this... or didn't want to get this.
