STUDY OBJECTIVES


The specified objectives of the 2001 DAS addressing
the Quality of Community Life are:

  • Produce accurate and credible information on the quality of life that can inform government, corporate, insititutional, and community policy makers, enabling them to make more rational decisions about the region's future.

  • Measure and document public perceptions about salient aspects of community life in the region at the beginning of the 21st century and identify the extent to which they have changed since the 1960s.

  • Establish a benchmark for assessing future change in the perceived quality of life and changes in community and environmental conditions throughout the 21st century.

  • Determine how much public perceptions correspond to the community and environmental conditions associated with where people live.
