The Area -- The 2001 Detroit Area Study (DAS) covers seven counties in southeastern Michigan. The DAS study area inlcudes the city of Detroit and the counties of Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Claire, Washtenaw and Wayne.

Population --The population of the seven counties in the 2000 Census was 4,821,112.

Size -- The study area contains approximately 4,500 square miles.
