DESCRIPTION:  This upper-level undergraduate course focuses on cognitive development, particularly in adulthood. Theoretical perspectives on cognitive development and aging will be examined, and empirical research discussed. Topics include adulthood changes in information processing skills, memory, intelligence, problem solving, reasoning, creativity, and wisdom. By the end of the course students should be knowledgeable about typical adulthood cognitive losses and gains, as well as the factors that contribute to individual differences in the patterns of these changes. The course will include some lecture, but student presentation and discussion will be emphasized. Students will be evaluated on regular homework assignments, papers, and exams.
