David and his friends are in a crowded line at the movie theater. One of David's anger triggers is when someone messes with his personal space. Some guy rudely pushes past David, bumping him aside on his way to join some friends further up in line. David gets mad and says, "Hey, man, watch it!" The guy just gives him a look and says nothing.
What should David do?
Ignore it, saying to himself, "What a jerk. Some people have no manners."
Go up to the guy and give him a hard shove, saying, "Don't go around pushing people."
Say to his friends, "What a jerk! Some people have no manners."
After the movie, the same guy pushes past David again on the way into the bathroom. David is even more mad, and knows he could teach this guy a lesson. He sometimes carries a knife for protection, and he has it with him tonight.
What should David do now?
Say to the guy, "You have a problem pushing people. You need to learn some manners." then walk away.
Pull out the knife in the bathroom and say, "I'm going to teach you some manners. Quit pushing me around."
Make a joke to his friends, "Loser probably messed his pants," and move on.
