2.  What is the reference collection?

The Reference Collection (Ref Coll), located in the Sub-1 Core area behind the reference desk, houses legal encyclopedias, ALRs, legal formbooks, Shepard's Citators, directories, and other reference material.

The JRBR, the Jackier Rare Book Room, houses the Law Librarys collection of rare books.  For more information, see Rare Book Room.

4.  Whats the difference between Open Reserve, Closed Reserve and Main Desk Reserve?

Open Reserve and Main Desk Reserve books are located in the Sub-2 Core area.  Open Reserve and Main Desk books are self serve, both can be browsed in the secured area or they can be checked out to use in the Library's underground addition for four hours.  Closed Reserve books are located behind the circulation desk.  Library staff will retrieve closed reserve materials for you.  Closed reserve materials can be checked out, for use in the Library's underground addition, for four hours.   For more information, see Course Reserves.

5.  Can materials be checked out of the Law Library?

Material cannot be charged out of the building.  However, some material can be charged to carrels and offices in the Legal Research complex.  For more information, see the Circulation Policy.

Give the book to a staff member at either the circulation or reference desk.

The distribution room, located in the Sub-2 Core area (the entrance is from the Sub-2 West wing), contains books waiting to be reshelved.

For information on call numbers and locations see the Call Number Locator (pdf).  Please note that to locate Library materials you will need to note both the location and the call number provided in the Lexcalibur record.

The European Union Documents Center, holds the Law Library's collection of European Union materials.  These materials include official EU documents as well as secondary sources that discuss EU law.  The EUDC is located in the Sub-2 Core, behind the Open Reserves area.
