LEMONADE STANDS FOR SIMON IN 2005Simon's 8th Birthday Lemonade Stand on May 17, 2005
Did you see our event covered on television? We're trying to figure out which stations ran the story and when. Please tell us the time and station you were watching so we can track down the footage. If you happened to catch any of it on tape, PLEASE let us know. Email information to simonandfamily@umich.edu. Liberty Heights Fresh owner, Steven Rosenberg, offered to do a Lemonade Stand in Simon's memory. Steven's two sons, Tobias and Noah, were good friends of Simon at Uintah Elementary School last year. As Steven put it very sensitively, "There's a big empty space in my heart for Simon," and he wanted to offer to help. So, he suggested a lemonade stand, and we decided to hold the stand on the day that would have been Simon's eighth birthday, May 17th. In addition to providing absolutely delicious organic lemonade for the stand, Liberty Heights Fresh generously offered to donate 10% of daily sales (8:30 am to 8:00 pm) to Alex's Lemonade Stand. The lemonade donations reached nearly $800. The 10% donation from the store's sales that day is $400, bringing the total raised on Simon's birthday to $1,200 for pediatric cancer research. Bravo all around! During the Lemonade Stand, we also served birthday cake to celebrate Simon. Pinon Cafe and Market has generously donated the cakes, and Miriam was invited to their professional kitchen on Monday afternoon to help decorate the cakes!
