Q & A - About Gymnastics and U-M

At what age did you start gymnastics?   Two weeks before my third birthday
How did you become involved in gymnastics?   My mom put me in classes because I was always tumbling around the house. She wanted me to learn to tuck my head and roll before I got hurt.
What is your favorite event? Why?   I really like all four events and my favorite keeps changing. Right now it is probably bars because I like the feeling of flying. I like to perform.

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?   I chose Michigan for its academic excellence and I really liked the coaches and team.
What is it like competing for U-M?   I don’t know yet :)
What has been your most memorable (gymnastics) moment at U-M?   So far, I would say “Freshmen Fridays” because we are required to sing the fight song in front of the whole team. As the year progresses, I’m sure I’ll have lots of wonderful memories.
What has been your most memorable (non-gymnastics) moment at U-M?   Attending football games at the Big House and making new friends.

What inspires you to keep going after a disappointing meet or a tough week of practice?   I really love the sport of gymnastics and I know that overcoming obstacles is the only way to reach goals.
What advice would you share with up-and-coming gymnasts who aspire to be like you or one of your teammates?   Never give up on your teams. Work through the hard times taking it one day at a time and set goals for yourself. Don’t worry about everyone else is doing, just better your last meet or workout.
